.. This creation is absolutely a work of art. The print is obviously Dali, but if you have any doubts you can inspect the selvage edge along the inside of a side seam where it is printed "A Wesley Simpson Custom - Salvador Dali". Wesley Simpson, commissioned some of the most popular artists of the time (early 1940s) to design fabrics, then engaged some of the most popular fashion designers of the time in a grand collaboration. I believe this dress was a result of one such collaboration.

..The figures are forest nymphs dancing. The fabric is either silk or rayon, it is very rich feeling. The styling of the dress is every bit as artistic as the print, and I do have the feeling that Dali helped in the design as well. The dress has two wonderful, draped faux pockets on the front that add a wonderful, surrealistic look.

..I believe it could be a dress by Elsa Schiaparelli.
