.. 1940s Pleated Coat

.. When I found this amazing cloak, I totally expected to find a fancy couture label, as the material and craftsmanship is top shelf. I immediately thought of Gilbert Adrian because this garment oozes with a 1940s Hollywood screen goddess look. I looked in all the usual places, but alas, there is no indication of whom to give credit for the artistry of this dream of a cloak.

This cloak is not a flimsy thing. The outer wool is super fine, and light weight, but there is so much of it that the garment is quite heavy. There is a pleated lining of a very dark burgundy silk/wool blend as well. The pleating is amazing. A the breast the pleats are tiny, but at the hem they are nearly an inch in width. This is not a simple accomplishment and could have only been done by a very fine Couturier.

.. There are twenty some buttons going down the front, as well as buttons at the wrists and small talon zippers at the wrist as well. One zipper is broken but the rest of the coat is perfect.

condition: Very Good.
