| .. People seem to equate "poured glass" with the house of Gripoix, but to me, it's Madame Gripoix's pearls that rock my world. The process of making a Gripoix pearl has been a well guarded secret since the turn of the century. Each pearl is hand crafted from glass. The nacre and color is not painted on, it is solid, and will never chip or flake. I wish I had the nerve to someday break a pearl open to inspect the construction, but who has the heart to do such a thing to a work of art. .. This necklace dates to the early 1990s based on the small CHANEL tag. Each pearl is unique, each measuring about an inch in length give or take. There are knots between each pearl. It is one continuous strand, no closures at all. The necklace came to me with a small O ring that opens with a safety clasp to double back the necklace to choker length. This ring is unmarked and is may or may not be original to the necklace.
