.. Bill Blass: 1970s Lame' Wrap Dress

.. Oh, how I love a good Bill Blass Evening Gown! This is an especially wonderful creation made of the most glorious gold lame' with an overlay of a fabric I can only describe as devore lame'. This devore layer appears to have been a leopard print lame that was chemically "burned out" to reveal open spaces of black silk chiffon that gently shade the gold lame' underneath.

.. Aside from the amazing fabrics, the dress itself is a marvel. It's a loose wrap style with a petersham ribbon inside around the waist to make sure everything stays in place, and a single hook on the right hip and that's it for closures. There is a hue bow on the right, and gentle gathers on both sided to the hook creating those wonderful folds. There are also little gathers at the wrist along the small zippers there. The back is left to flow on its own accord, much like the gowns of Paul Poiret .

.. It is a breathtaking, red carpet worthy, couture creation.
