.. :1980s Shisa Dog, Japanese Long Vest

.. The Shisa is a creature of great importance in Okinawan mythology. It is a cross between a lion and a dog, and is a symbolic protector against evil and bad luck. This wonderful garment features two little Shisas (they usually come in pairs, one to chase the bad, one to keep in the good), one is embroidered with gold embroidery, the other with gold paint.

.. The vest is made of pure silk with a crepe feel. It is lined in silk as well. Its an easy wearing, long vest, with lightly padded shoulders and side slits that end just below the waist. You can't tell in the pictures, but there is also very subtle hand ticking in white across the shoulderblades and the lower area of the chest.
