.. Givenchy Couture: 1950s Coat

.. This coat is a true treasure. The fabric is a dreamy. Its made like devore velvet, but its a heavier fabric so where the velvet is burned out, the fabric that remains is much more substantial. The tufts that remain are super soft chenille of radiant royal blue, the underfabric has a sort of violet tone. The fabric is soft and radiant, the type of textile you will only find in haute couture.

. The cut is masterful, like his mentor Cristobal Balenciaga, Givenchy could definitely design a coat. The coat is slightly double-breasted, with shiny silver buttons down the front. It has princess seaming, a good, wide collar, bracelet length sleeves and deep slash pockets. Under the Givenchy label is a handwritten serial number. The coat is lined in black silk taffeta.
