| ..Battilocchi Roma: 1960s Tweed Suit | |||
|
..This suit was clearly influenced by the Coco Chanel, with the nubby tweed, the deep pleated skirt, the quilted lining, the chain at the hem and the lion head buttons. In fact, when I first saw it I was sure it was Chanel, even the feel was right, but then as I explored I started seeing unique details that I have never seen in a Chanel. The velvet trim down the front, around the pockets, cuffs and collar. The little faux slash pockets high on the chest, the tulip shape on the hip pockets, and the fact the jacket is slightly fitted to show curves. This is a classic example how Italian haute couture took popular French designs and made them uniquely thier own.
