.. Gigliola : 1960s Italy goes Aztec Print Silk Dress

.. I just adore obscure Florentine prints. While Emilio Pucci was riding high on his wild swirls, other lesser known artesian designers threw their vibrant prints into the mix. Though they never got the fame and fortune of Pucci, I consider their contributions to Italian fashion just as, if not even more important. Take this beautiful dress for example. I have never seen, this label before(I believe it is the city of Gigliola near Florence, I do not think it has anything to do withGigliola Curiel ), but I consider this dress to be one of the best in my current collection.

..The quality of this dress is that of fine couture, with lots of hand finishes. The dress has perfectly placed darts and tucks for a graceful and slightly fitted look. Above all that is the AWESOME print. Its influenced by Aztec art, with the eagle heads, wings and the like, but its not by any means accurate. This is not a copy of a picture from a museum collection. It is an Italian flight of fancy with an Aztec theme. I love how they placed a bit of the selvage that indicates the fabric is was exclusively designed by Gigliola.
