.. What is more wonderful than a black velvet coat? It is a perfect coat for any occasion, from your winter formal to girls night out. Of course, our beloved R.F. Halston had to put his unique spin on the classic style.

.. This rare gem is made from a ultra deluxe jet black velveteen, lined in glorious silk taffeta. The buttons are shiny black plastic, very simple and elegant. It's a smooth princess cut with a slight a-line to the hem. The fine pleating at the back of the neck was all that was needed for the perfect fit. The sleeves are bracelet length, perfect for using the ultra deep pockets on either side. The most intriguing aspect of this coat is the collar. Instead of the usual flat, pointed collar, Halston made it from a loop of fabric, open at both ends. It is open all the way around so you could (carefully) lace a scarf through it should you feel the desire to.
