.. AnnaBelinda: 1970s Silk & Velvet Dress

.. In 1971, two young designers, Belinda O’Hanlon and Anita Woodhead opened a small dress shop in Oxford. Mixing Liberty London prints with classic brocades and velvets, they were embraced by the fashion world and quickly rose to fame. According to their website "Every girl and woman desired one and every man desired the girl or woman in an unmistakable Annabelinda creation." These dresses were expensive and highly sought after. 35 years later, they are still creating fabulous couture, now with a focus on wedding gowns.

.. This rare beauty is a prime example of the Annabelinda style. It is rich black velvet adorned with printed silk. It has a bib style bodice that buttons down each side. The skirting is long with a nice fullness. The two pockets are placed to balance the piece perfectly.
