.. This dress is an early work by Beene. To me, its the best example of his singular style that I have ever seen. Its made of rich satin in a deep bronzy brown. The satin is stiffened with a heaver layer, and the dress is lined in silk as well.

.. The construction of the dress is a marvel. To achieve the open chest and back Beene constructed a heavy wide inner belt at the empire waist to keep everything in place. This belt closes with huge hooks & eyes. The bodice was magnificently fitted to the bust, also necessary to open the chest. The little bow at the neck adds a touch of innocence to the very daring decolletage. The dress has a sleek, very modern look, but it also has the very chic, classic look of couture.
