.. Most know Puerto Rican born Julio Espada from his short stint at Pucci at the turn of the millennium, but true fashionistas yearn for his early "Julio" designs. Back in the day, his dresses were hoarded by the rich and fabulous, and I must say, they are very rare to find now.
This is the most wonderful Julio creation I have ever come across. This creation is a delightful cross between deco and disco. Made from the lightest, finest, diaphanous silk... gold lame on a peachy chiffon. Its a very remarkable fabric. A lame' burn out if you will.
.. The style of the dress is a drop waist flapper cut. The low, thick band at the hip is a miniature version of the pattern that is on the bodice and skirt. The skirt is long, with beautiful flow and movement. It is actually a rectangle with a hole in the middle where it attaches to the waist. The flounce on the right leg is actually a gather that allow the leg to show a bit. The bodice is also a rectangle, with a hole for the neck. The sides are completely open from shoulder to hip but the draped, kimono like sleeves provide sufficient coverage so just a little skin will show now and then. The billowing cowlneck completes the look perfectly.
