.. Robert David Morton: 1970s Under the Sea Goddess Dress

.. Its always a mystery to me why Robert David Morton is not a bigger name in vintage fashion. I personally adore his work, and I have quite a personal collection amassed. Drawing a clear influence from Pucci and Leonard, RDM injected his New York style into bold prints, then fashioned the fabric into graceful, beautifully designed garments. His is a very unique and beautiful style. Someday his work will be recognized for the amazing works of art that they are.

.. This lovely dress is quite a find. The fabric is a stretchy, silky synthetic. It feels like bathing suit fabric (how fabulous is that). The dramatic gold of the shells and seaweed is accented by bright orange and black... on the aqua blue background, its quite striking. If you look closely at the print, you will find a few Robert David Morton signatures hidden here and there.

.. The cut of the dress is superb. From the front, it looks like a halter neck, but from the back, its a different look altogether. The empire waist has a gather only under the left breast which creates the ripple effect crossing the body. The skirting is attached at the waist in a wrap style. The side is open clear up to the waist, with a good overlap so you can show some leg, but you don't have to worry about showing too much. This is a very special dress indeed

condition: excellent, no flaws to note
