.. Before blue jeans and underwear made Calvin Klein a household name, beautiful couture items were produced in a small room at the York Hotel in NYC.
.. I believe this is a very early work of Klein's. I have only seen this label in his early coats that date to the late 1960s. It is made from a heavy wool, the type of wool that would have been used in a fall coat. The cloth is a heathered gray, super soft and extremely rich feeling. The dress is fully lined in gray silk and closes with a hidden metal zipper.
.. The cut of the dress is really chic. It has mod elements and a very tailored look. There are three little, pleated pockets, one on each hip, and one right under the left breast. The pockets are also silk lined. There are belt loops, but sadly, no belt. The loops are simple 2" long strings... the dress looks fabulous with, or without a belt. It is a very couture piece, with expert tailoring and lots of hand finishing. I just adore that scalloped slit in the front. It is a very lovely and unique piece.
