| .. Mountain Artisans: 1970s Patchwork Coat | |||
|
..The Mountain Artisans were a group of gals in West Virginia who started off making quilts, then took the fashion world by storm with thier beautiful clothing designs. Every Mountain Artisan piece I have ever found has amazed me. .. This piece is a prime example of the Mountain Artisans art. This beauty retailed in Neiman Marcus (label inside) and I am sure it cost a pretty penny back in the day. The fabrics used are divine. From thick, tweeds to divine velvets, to fun corduroy, the textures and patterns blend together perfectly. The coat is lined in an orange floral cotton that reminds me of the old feedsack calico used to back antique quilts. ..I love the big hood, and delightful cross over and tie front.
